We are going to hear his plan for doing all the right things with the right motivation, and then we’ll hear his promise of what happens when we get both action and motivation heading in the same direction.
The people being addressed in Isaiah Chapter 58 seem to be doing a good thing: they are fasting. They are putting aside food, seemingly for the sake of prayer in hopes of a spiritual breakthrough. Here’s the problem: they are doing all the right things for all the wrong reasons, and God loves them enough to set them straight. In this message, we hear from God about what he truly wants from those of us who call ourselves “followers.” We are going to hear his plan for doing all the right things with the right motivation, and then we’ll hear his promise of what happens when we get both action and motivation heading in the same direction.
