Ministry Information:
For a variety of reasons and circumstances there are many people in Whatcom County that are not sure where their next meal is coming from. The Christ the King Food Bank meets the needs of families throughout Whatcom County. It's our goal that none of these families go to bed hungry.
Location:
Cascade Business Park
5373 Guide Meridian
Bellingham, Washington
Hours:
Every Tuesday, 1:00 - 3:00 PM
Volunteers Committed to Help Fight Hunger:
A team of volunteers, led by Tracy Whitehead, meets each Tuesday. They prepare food packages for families of various sizes, restock food shelves, and create a welcoming atmosphere of warmth and acceptance. To assist families with meal preparation, Food Bank volunteers also create many recipes using the basic food items available from the food bank. Families visiting the food bank are also given information about other community services and resources, as well as information regarding the various ministries at Christ the King Church.
Donating Food and Other Items:
The Food Bank accepts donations all throughout the year. During the holidays you extra help is always appreciated!
Donations may be dropped off at the church during any weekend service or during normal church office business hours. You may also give financially by using a green Food Bank giving envelope located at the back entrance of the Worship Center .
The items most needed currently are:
Flour, Sugar, Rice, Bread, Canned Soup, Canned Veggies, Canned Fruit, Tuna, Crackers, Oatmeal, Cereal, Dried Beans, Peanut Butter, Pasta and Sauce, Chili, Soup , Mac and Cheese, Powdered Milk, Sugar Free Jell-o and Puddings, Crystal Lite Beverage Mixes, Toilet Paper, Detergent for both dishes and laundry, Diapers (all sizes).
Donating canned goods, cereals, etc. in family serving sizes is more beneficial than large bulk sizes.
With your regular food donations these volunteers are able to assist an average of 200 people each week. Over the past 24 months, we have seen an increase of families in need of assistance. With your help we can keep our Food Bank shelves full! |
