Kim Howland

Kim Howland - Elementary Ministries Assistant Director

p. 360-733-1337 x.210

As a kid, I grew up enjoying the city life of the Vancouver/Portland area. Vancouver was my home. I'd lived in just about every area of Vancouver, and new the city like the back of my hand. I thought I would never leave. But as always, God had his own plans. After high school, I begrugingly made the trek to Bellingham to attend Western Washington University. It was there that I really met God. Although I had grown up in and out of church, knowing much of the Bible and the "rules" of Christianity, I had never really known who God was and what it meant to have a relationship with him. He did a lot of work in me in those four years of college. One of which was revealing a passion and a calling in my life. I have enjoyed working with children since I can remember but it was only after I fully surrendered my life to Christ that I felt led to bring the powerful, healing love of Jesus to children who face hardships.  So I majored in Human Services and I graduated from Western in June of 2003 with a BA. After being on staff at a summer camp for at risk kids, I had an awesome opportunity to intern with Elementary Ministries at CTK and joined the staff in the fall of 2004.

After working here for a couple of years, God brought an awesome man into my life. I met my husband, Ryan (Howie, as most people know him) here in Elementary MInistry at CTK. We were married in December of 2006.

When I am not at Christ the King, I enjoy being with friends (kids included), scrapbooking, playing board games, putting together puzzles, and admittedly, even coloring in coloring books!

If you attend on a weekend you will find me in FUN Zones with 1st-5th graders, leading worship, teaching a small group, or even on stage in a goofy costume. I also get the privelege of working with the Confident Kids program where volunteers and children come together and share their life experiences, play together, pray together, and learn how God helps us through our tough times. I have many stories, dear to my heart, about what God has done in this program.

The next Welcome to CTK is scheduled for Sunday, August 17, 2008 from 12:30-1PM in Room 213. Find out more by clicking here.
