Our Mission

Over the years, the mission of Christ the King Church has been stirred by the historical stories of Lifeboat 14 from the Titanic, the Huts of Refuge on Nantucket Island, and the rescue effort that saved countless lives on the beaches of Dunkirk.

A common thread runs through those stories: regular people, moved by the plight of the helpless and the drowning, embark on a mission to save lives.

At CTK, we are on a mission to save lives. This mission is not easy; life-saving ventures come at a great cost. Counting the cost includes risking life as we know it, changing priorities, laying aside a reputation, and personally sacrificing in order to show any person the love of God.

We are absolutely committed to the mission of our church:

To create an authentic Christian community that effectively reaches out to unchurched people in love, acceptance and forgiveness so that they may experience the joy of salvation and a purposeful life of discipleship.

This is the heartbeat of our church. Whether we accomplish this mission through the basic building block of our church – the small group – or act on it every time we live out the one-another commands of Christ in our world, the bottom line is still the same: we are here to bring people to Jesus so that they can be saved. Regardless of the wreckage and the ruin that may accompany them, we will reach out just as Jesus reached out to us.

Our Vision

Mobilizing real people who serve the real God in the real world.

Our Objective

Our objective is to disciple each believer in these basic but essential practices necessary to living a Spirit-filled life and glorifying God.

  1. Seeking God through prayer
  2. Studying God’s Word for growth
  3. Sharing our faith in God with others
  4. Stewarding our resources as a trust from God
  5. Serving others by discovering our God-given gifts
  6. Standing together in biblical community

Our Focus

There are three areas of focus that define our ministry:

  1. We will devote ourselves to worshiping God.
  2. We will dedicate ourselves to the mission of reaching people who do not know Christ as their Savior.
  3. We will determine to obey the one-another commands of scripture through the ministry of small groups

Our Values

At Christ the King Church we have certain approaches to life and ministry that we value. We will sacrifice other activities and attitudes to maintain their priority. These values govern the way we think and behave:

  1. A commitment to outreach
  2. The priority of personal worship
  3. A culture of recovery
  4. The importance of authentic relationships
  5. The necessity of discipleship
  6. Small groups as the basic building block of the church
  7. The trustworthiness of God and his Word
  8. The ministry of every believer

Our Beliefs

CTK’s doctrinal statement is a set of biblical, core beliefs that unify us and guide the way we live. Our doctrinal statement is always available on weekends at the Welcome Center and in our quarterly catalog, What's Happening. The sermon series We Believe explores each belief in detail and gives practical application for each doctrine. It’s available on CD at the Media Center any weekend.
